OSCE Trainings
Summer Academy on OSCE and other OSCE trainings for OSCE diplomats, staff members of OSCE missions, cooperation partners, etc.
Since the mid of the 1990s, the ACP has designed and implemented a wide range of different training activities for and in cooperation with the OSCE. In addition to basic mission preparation training for OSCE mission staff, the ACP has conducted, sometimes upon the request of OSCE, various specialization courses on e.g. gender issues, conflict transformation, project management, combating human trafficking. With these innovative programmes, the ASPR tries to support the OSCE in improving existing peacebuilding skills and to contribute to the development of new competencies of the participants, the OSCE member states from which they come and the OSCE in general.
In addition to the more mission-oriented training courses, the ACP also offers the annual "Summer Academy on OSCE" for the diplomatic corps.
The OSCE has regained importance in recent years due to the crisis in and around Ukraine, the rift between Russia and the West, and the challenges of integration in ethnically diverse societies. The Summer Academy on OSCE offers participants the opportunity to reflect on what can be done in this time of crisis to reduce tension and promote security and cooperation in Europe.
A carefully balanced mix of lectures and workshops, combined with a study tour to the OSCE institutions in Vienna, provides participants with knowledge about the history, functioning and current activities of the OSCE, as well as tools for working more effectively in a multilateral environment.
Participants come from a wide range of OSCE member states or OSCE partner institutions and have diverse backgrounds, including diplomats, PhD students and practitioners. They share a common interest in European security and co-operation.
